About the Artist

Russell Abrahams a.k.a. Yay Abe

Yay Abe is a multi-disciplinary artist and illustrator based in Cape Town, South Africa. Also known as Russell Abraham, Yay Abe established his namesake illustration studio for artists of color, working with anything from t-shirts, to take away boxes and walls, the designs of which “undoubtedly bring the ordinary to life” according to S-Mag.

Yay Abe’s vision is to become one of the most prominent voices in South African popular culture by using illustration as a driving tool. He enjoys the large scale format that painting murals provides. Other mediums he uses include house paint, inks and spray paint. After working with some of the world’s top brands, Abe’s next journey is sharing his art with the world including our audience at Run Richmond 16.19.

Thank you Russell for beautifying our event in such a creative way!
